League Night - August 8th

Posted by Josh Carroll on August 8, 2013 at 11:30 PM Comments comments (0)

After a final round of 18 holes, the 2013 season of summer league play comes to a close.  The course took on a slightly nautical look with several flooded fairways from the seemingly endless rainfall.  With more thunderstorms and rain in the forecast for tonight, we were fortunate to get our last round in with light gusts and cool temperatures.  It's been an excellent summer getting to meet so many new players and catching up with old ones.  Thank you Adam B, Adam R, Alex, Brady, Brian R, Brian S, Casey, Devin, Ian, Jacob, Jeff, Jesse, Jonathan, Justin, Mario, Matt, Max, Nick, Scott, Stan, Tony, and Zach!

1st - Ian Ray -- 54 (E) -- 6 points

2nd - Jonathan Carroll -- 55 (+1) -- 5 points

3rd - Josh Carroll -- 56 (+2) -- 5 points

4th - Matt Newton -- 57 (+3) -- 4 points

5th - Jeff Updegrove -- 58 (+4) -- 4 points

T-6th - Brady Delp -- 59 (+5) -- 3 points

T-6th - Zach Keasling -- 59 (+5) -- 3 points

T-8th - Mario Mendoza -- 60 (+6) -- 2 points

T-8th - Alexandre Freeland -- 60 (+6) -- 2 points

10th - Tony Klassen -- 61 (+7) -- 1 point

11th - Scott Carpenter -- 63 (+9) -- 1 point

12th - Adam Robb -- 65 (+11) -- 1 point

Next week will be the always exciting end-of-the-season Skills Competition!  For those of you who were not able to make it to league tonight, we will be meeting at our regularly scheduled time and begin contests at 6:30 PM.  Park along the west end of the fishing pond as the contests will primarily revolve around holes 4-6.  See you then!

League Night - August 1st

After twenty-two holes of Deuce-or-Die disc golf, still not a single ace was recorded.  Heard that there were several close calls though.  With the pot sitting at $103, next week will be the final week to have a crack at breaking the ace fund.  As for the Deuce-or-Die action, leave a comment on how you thought the course played.  What did you think?  What was your favorite/least favorite hole?  There were quite a few modifications from last year's layout.  Here were tonight's scores:

1st - Josh Carroll -- 39 PTS. -- 5 points

2nd - Mario Mendoza -- 29 PTS. -- 4 points

3rd - Jacob Carroll -- 28 PTS. -- 4 points

4th - Jeff Updegrove -- 27 PTS. -- 3 points

5th - Zach Keasling -- 24 PTS. -- 3 points

6th - Scott Carpenter -- 23 PTS. -- 2 points

7th - Brady Delp -- 22 PTS. -- 2 points

8th - Alexandre Freeland -- 21 PTS. -- 1 point

9th - Devin Brown -- 20 PTS. -- 1 point

10th - Tony Klassen -- 10 PTS. -- 1 point

Next week will follow the standard course layout and tee off at 6:30 PM.  The following week, Thursday August 15th, will be the end-of-the-season Skills Competition.  Stay posted for more information on that.

League Night - July 25th

Thanks to the rainfall we've been getting this summer, the course is boasting some of the most lush, greenest fairways I've seen in years.  Not to mention nearly sticker-free!  The sky was overcast but the rain held off just long enough to get our round in.  Ten players were in attendance tonight which I believe ties our season low.  Regardless, it was a fun round and plenty of respectable scores were posted:

1st - Josh Carroll -- 50 (-4) -- 5 points

T-2nd - Jeff Updegrove -- 51 (-3) -- 4 points

T-2nd - Adam Bleything -- 51 (-3) -- 4 points

4th - Matt Newton -- 53 (-1) -- 3 points

T-5th - Brady Delp -- 56 (+2) -- 3 points

T-5th - Adam Robb -- 56 (+2) -- 2 points

T-7th - Jonathan Carroll -- 58 (+4) -- 2 points

T-7th - Devin Brown -- 58 (+4) -- 1 point

9th - Jacob Carroll -- 61 (+7) -- 1 point

10th - Alexandre Freeland -- 63 (+9) -- 1 point

The Summer League season is wrapping up with only 3 weeks remaining on the schedule.  Next week will feature another group favorite, Deuce-or-Die!  If you own a portable basket that can be used on the course, bring it out and have it ready no later than 6:00pm.  The Ace Fund is currently at $94 and next week might be your best shot had hitting a big one!

Fourth of July - League Postponed

Posted by Josh Carroll on July 2, 2013 at 10:30 PM Comments comments (0)

Well the bad news is that this week's regularly scheduled league night falls on the Fourth of July. Since I assumed many of you would be out BBQ'ing, shooting fireworks, and spending time with family, I have decided to call off playing on Thursday. I will also be out of town all weekend, as I am leaving tomorrow night for Table Rock Lake.

The good news for you all is that I have asked a couple of frequenters to handle league administration this week. This week's league will take place on Friday, July 5th at 6:30 PM. Format will follow the standard layout playing singles.

Due to severe weather and thunderstorms, league night for tonight has been canceled.

League Night - June 20th

I thought that the wind might deter a larger number of players from showing up tonight, but we still boasted a turnout of 13 players for the evening.  Fighting against gusts of 20-30 mph, we played another round of singles on the standard course layout.  There were a total of three CTP's up for grabs tonight, two of which were generously donated by Jeff Updegrove.  Tony Klassen earned a stainless steel water bottle on Hole 11, Alex Freeland earned a Small Axe Discs mini pouch on Hole 3, while the cash CTP was taken by Josh Carroll on Hole 16.  Tonight's results:

1st - Jeff Updegrove -- 52 (-2) -- 6 points

T-2nd - Mario Mendoza -- 55 (+1) -- 5 points

T-2nd - Ian Ray -- 55 (+1) -- 5 points

4th - Matt Newton -- 57 (+3) -- 4 points

5th - Alexander Freeland -- 58 (+4) -- 4 points

6th - Stanley Hoschouer -- 59 (+5) -- 3 points

7th - Josh Carroll -- 60 (+6) -- 3 points

8th - Jacob Carroll -- 61 (+7) -- 2 points

9th - Tony Klassen -- 64 (+10) -- 2 points

10th - Max Banker -- 64 (+10) -- 2 points

T-11th - Scott Carpenter -- 67 (+13) -- 1 point

T-11th - Adam Robb -- 67 (+13) -- 1 point

13th - Nicholas LaGreca -- 76 (+22) -- 1 point

Also don't forget to visit the KDGA Forums under the Little River section and comment on the Carey Park Message Board thread about your preference for playing on July 4th which is two weeks from tonight.  See you all next week!

League Night - June 13th

We are almost 1/3 of the way through the summer season already and the weather has been rather kind for the most part this year.  No triple-digit scorchers to speak of and no storm cancellations *knock on wood*.  It was CTP's galore tonight with a total of five opportunities up for grabs!  We played the default #5 for this week's contest as well as #13 and #15 for bonus contests, good for a $5 pro shop voucher.  Jeff Updegrove kindly kicked in a first run Star Lycan as a CTP prize for #8, but walked away winning it right back.  Finally, following the round we threw off for last week's CTP money since we decided to postpone.  Great turnout and great fun!

1st - Josh Carroll -- 54 (E) -- 6 points

2nd - Jeff Updegrove -- 55 (+1) -- 5 points

3rd - Jacob Carroll -- 58 (+4) -- 5 points

4th - Adam Robb -- 59 (+5) -- 4 points

5th - Alexandre Freeland -- 60 (+6) -- 4 points

T-6th - Devin Brown -- 61 (+7) -- 3 points

T-6th - Tony Klassen -- 61 (+7) -- 3 points

8th - Stanley Hoschouer -- 62 (+8) -- 2 points

T-9th - Jonathan Carroll -- 63 (+9) -- 2 points

T-9th - Casey Frischenmeyer -- 63 (+9) -- 2 points

T-9th - Mario Mendoza -- 63 (+9) -- 1 point

12th - Nick LaGreca -- 66 (+12) -- 1 point

13th - Jesse Debozy -- 74 (+20) -- 1 point

As you might have noticed, several of us exchanged bag tags tonight after the round.  These are part of the Little River Disc Golf Club and can be purchased for $10.  LRDGC Leagues play on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM at Carey Park and Sundays at 10:00 AM at Konen Creek in Little River.  Possessing a tag means you can win 50% of the Ace Pot when you record a hole-in-one as opposed to 25% for non-tag members.
